Handy Help - Home Support & Small Jobs (Not Building Work)

It’s often the small tasks that make daily life harder — especially if you’re not as steady on your feet, you live alone, or you simply don’t want to be climbing, lifting, or struggling with awkward jobs.

UrHelpur offers friendly “living support” help with small household tasks—done carefully, safely, and without rushing you. This is ideal when you want things sorted properly, with someone you can trust.

We are not builders or tradespeople. We don’t take on construction, renovations, or specialist trade work. We focus on safe, sensible help that supports independence at home.

Examples of the kind of help we can offer

  • Simple flat-pack assembly (light items)

  • Changing light bulbs where it’s safe to do so (no risky ladder work)

  • Moving small items to make your home easier to use

  • Help setting up everyday gadgets or living aids (non-technical support)

  • Putting deliveries away, organising cupboards, basic home “reset” tasks.

What we don’t do

  • Building work, structural repairs, plumbing, electrics, or anything requiring a qualified trade

  • Heavy lifting or high-risk ladder work

Advocacy & Championing

Advocacy & Championing means having someone in your corner when things feel confusing, rushed, or a bit overwhelming. We can help with letters, forms, phone calls, and “life admin” — and we can come with you to appointments to help you ask the questions you meant to ask, take notes, and make sure you feel listened to. It’s calm, practical support that helps you stay in control, without having to rely on family or friends.

Companion Support
(Through-the-Door Appointments & Outings)

Sometimes you don’t want to go alone — and you don’t want to rely on family, friends, neighbours or taxis either. UrHelpur provides calm, friendly through-the-door support so you can get out and about with confidence and maintain your independence.

We can accompany you to appointments, errands, social events and days out, with door-to-door support from your home and back again. If you’d like, we can stay with you (or wait nearby), offer reassurance, and take notes or help you remember key information.

Wheelchair-accessible transport is available as part of the support. UrHelpur is not a taxi service — we’re a non-medical companionship and practical support service.

What this support can include

  • Helping you get ready to leave (coat, bag, keys, reminders)

  • Walking with you from your door to the venue and back again

  • Waiting with you or nearby — your choice

  • Reassurance, prompts, and a friendly presence

  • Note-taking and helping you keep track of next steps.

What we don’t provide

  • Medical care or personal care

  • Emergency response services

  • “Just transport” with no support

How it works

  1. Book by calling 01484 90 70 90 or text 07535 205850 (you can leave a message)

  2. We arrive at your home and support you from the door

  3. We accompany you in and either wait with you or wait outside — whichever you prefer

  4. We bring you home and settle you back in safely (comfortable, warm, and with what you need to hand)

Garden Support
(Light Tidy Help — Not a
Landscape Gardening Service)

A tidy garden can make home feel safer and more enjoyable — but the heavy work can be too much, and it’s not always easy to ask others.

UrHelpur offers light garden support as part of independence and living support. Think: a helping hand to keep things tidy, safe, and manageable — not a full gardening or landscaping service.

Maintenance visits (most popular)

  • Small garden: up to 60 mins

  • Medium garden: up to 90 mins

  • Large garden: up to 2 hours
    Optional: fortnightly visits available.

One-off “Reset Tidy-Up” (catch-up visit)

  • Up to 3 hours

  • Up to 4 hours

  • Up to 5 hours

Lawn-only quick visit (mow + edge)

  • Small lawn

  • Medium lawn

  • Large lawn

Typical light garden tasks

  • Weeding and tidying borders

  • Sweeping paths/patios (leaves and light debris)

  • Light pruning and trimming (easy reach only)

  • Cutting back small overgrowth at ground level

  • Pot and planter tidy-ups

  • A general “garden reset” to make it feel neat again

Included / Not included

Included: tools provided, bagging into your green bin/approved area, paths/patio left swept and safer.


Not included: skip/large waste removal, heavy digging/landscaping, tree surgery, ladder work, high hedges.
